Las Tortugas Villa is spread across three levels, giving families the space to spread out comfortably. The two air-conditioned master bedrooms each have a queen-size bed, ceiling fan, mosquito net and private ensuite bathroom. Above the main living area, the mezzanine loft is decorated primarily as a children’s bedroom, with a double bed and wardrobe, a space children love for its character and sense of adventure. Whilst the Villa has a lovely view it also comes with a quite a steep drop behind the balustrade where there is a small gap that may be possible squeezed through by small children. Even though this has never happened, we also ways recommend supervision for precautionary meausures.

The open-plan living and dining area seats six, opens directly onto the covered veranda and has easy access to the fully equipped kitchen. The kitchen is stocked with everything needed for self-catering, including a counter top stove, gas oven, microwave, food processor, blender and coffee maker.

The Pool and the Garden

The private infinity pool sits on the sundeck terrace with panoramic views over Paradise Beach and the Southern Grenadines. The pool deck is fully enclosed and fitted with a latching safety gate, so younger children can play safely while adults relax on the sun loungers. You will also find our elusive pet tortoises which frequent the car park level and can be fed (preferably bananas).

The hillside garden surrounding the villa is a genuine adventure playground for children who enjoy climbing, exploring the terraced grounds, searching for hermit crabs and grasshoppers, and the inevitable encounters with the local goat population, who have a habit of testing the garden gates. Children find Carriacou’s wildlife endlessly entertaining.

The Games Room

On the lower level of the villa, a large recreation room provides a dedicated space for children and teenagers. Equipped with a billiard table, Smart TV with access to WiFi for your favourite shows on Netflix, Hulu etc, a selection of books, movies, toys and board games, and long comfortable couches that can double as beds for additional guests, it is the perfect rainy afternoon retreat. Paradise Beach and ConchCasa

A short walk down the paved path from the villa brings you to Paradise Beach, a mile-long stretch of white sand with calm, clear water ideal for swimming and paddling. Three beach bars along the beach serve cold drinks and casual meals, and Curtis at Off the Hook can arrange boat trips across the bay to Sandy Island.

At the far end of the beach, Las Tortugas Villa guests have exclusive use of ConchCasa, the villa’s own private boathouse. Three minutes on foot from the house, it sits twenty feet from the sea with excellent swimming and snorkelling directly in front. Inside you will find a cold beer fridge, beach loungers, a hammock, and chairs. A rowboat and sailing dinghy are kept on site for guests to enjoy on the water. Being at the quieter end of the beach it sees very few other visitors, giving families a naturally secluded spot to base themselves for the day without going anywhere at all.

Sandy Island, just across the bay, is one of the most popular destinations for families visiting Carriacou. A short boat trip from Paradise Beach, it is a wonderful spot for children to swim and snorkel in calm, clear water. Godfrey can help arrange the boat trip and pack a cooler for the day if requested.

Saline Island to the south is well worth a visit by boat and can be combined with Frigate and Large Island for a full day out on the water. Sea turtles are regularly sighted feeding in the seagrass around Saline’s shallow lagoon.

For families who enjoy diving or snorkelling, Carriacou offers some of the finest underwater experiences in the eastern Caribbean. Dive Carriacou is a five minute drive from the villa and Deefer Diving is in Hillsborough, approximately 15 minutes away. Both operators arrange snorkelling trips and diving for all experience levels including beginners.
